The Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) Foundation is honoured to be the recipient of a $90,000 gift from the Kamloops Blazers Scholarship & Education Society. For over 25 years, the Kamloops Blazers Scholarship & Education Society has been a steadfast supporter of RIH Foundation, helping various departments throughout the hospital by generously helping to purchase priority equipment and comfort care items.

The Kamloops Blazers Scholarship & Education Society was established in 1996 by a group of local volunteers with a mission to support the educational aspirations of Blazers’ hockey players by granting a year of paid post-secondary education for every year played on the team. The Society was able to raise their proceeds through the 50/50 raffle they held during every Blazers hockey home game throughout the WHL hockey season, encompassing regular season and playoff games.

Today, the Kamloops Blazers Scholarship & Education Society 50/50 Raffle is still going strong and the impact of their work has expanded far beyond the hockey arena and into the community. In addition to their ongoing support of the RIH Foundation, the Kamloops Blazers Scholarship & Education Society contributes to various causes, including the Kamloops Minor Hockey Association, the Ronald McDonald House, Kamloops Brain Injury Association, TRU Foundation, Canadian Mental Health Association, School District 73, and so much more. This is all possible through the incredible dedication of the society’s 25 hardworking volunteers and the participation of our Blazers fans purchasing 50/50 raffle tickets during the games.

The next time you attend a Blazers’ home game, remember that by purchasing a 50/50 raffle ticket, you are directly supporting invaluable causes within our community. The Kamloops Blazers Scholarship & Education Society’s commitment to the well-being of our region exemplifies the true spirit of community involvement. The RIH Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Kamloops Blazers Scholarship & Education Society for their commitment to healthcare excellence in our region. The impact of their ongoing generosity is immeasurable.
