Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is a specialized, minimally invasive procedure that combines advanced endoscopy and imaging technology to diagnose and treat conditions affecting the bile ducts and pancreas. Most commonly used to relieve blockages caused by gallstones, scar tissue, or tumours, ERCP can also place stents, remove stones, collect tissue samples, and detect cancers earlier, helping improve treatment outcomes while often avoiding more invasive surgery.
A new ERCP Suite at Royal Inland Hospital will enhance specialized digestive and biliary care with a purpose-built, state-of-the-art procedural space.
This new development will reduce patient transfers to larger centres, improve workflow and safety, and expand access to advanced gastroenterology procedures.
It is a critical investment needed to recruit and retain GI specialists, ensuring expert care is available close to home and strengthening the services our community relies on.
