True partnership begins with shared purpose.

It is found in the people and organizations who see a need, step forward, and help inspire others to do the same. It is found in leadership that strengthens community, builds momentum, and reflects a belief that local healthcare is something we all have a role in supporting. For the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, Kamloops Honda, a CanadaOne Cares Dealership has become an inspiring example of that kind of partnership.

Through the generosity of Pat and Diana Priestner, the CanadaOne Cares program provides philanthropic funding to its dealerships, empowering local teams to invest in causes that matter close to home. For Kamloops Honda, this has meant continued support for Royal Inland Hospital and the patients, families, and healthcare professionals who rely on it. Kamloops Honda has supported several RIH Foundation priorities, including renal health, the Parkview Child and Adolescent Mental Health Program, and the hospital’s highest priority needs.

This June, Kamloops Honda deepened that impact by becoming the $100,000 Matching Donor for Royal Affair, one of RIH Foundation’s most prestigious signature events. Their leadership helped encourage giving and create excitement around the June 6 event, which raised an outstanding $247,452, including Kamloops Honda’s generous matching gift.

“We are proud to support the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation’s Royal Affair. We truly believe in the Foundation’s mission, particularly its commitment to advancing mental health care, a cause that is close to our hearts. Supporting organizations that lead with compassion and a genuine commitment to caring for everyone in our community is deeply important to our family. Thank you to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, and to the healthcare professionals, staff, and volunteers, for all that you do to care for our community.” – Pat and Diana Priestner

Kamloops Honda’s support extended beyond the matching gift. General Manager Jon Kaban attended The Royal Affair with members of his team, joining the community in celebration of local healthcare. As the event moved into teardown the following day, the Kamloops Honda team returned to support staff and volunteers. They brought a barbecue, cooked lunch, donated snacks, and helped thank those working behind the scenes.

It was a thoughtful reflection of what has made this partnership so meaningful: generosity paired with action.

Throughout Royal Affair, Kamloops Honda brought enthusiasm, collaboration, and a community-first spirit. Their support helped unite people around a shared mission and reminded us what is possible when local leadership and local healthcare move forward together.

“We at Kamloops Honda sincerely appreciate the hard work and dedication that the RIH Foundation and all of the volunteers put into organizing the Royal Affair. A group of our staff and I had the pleasure of attending this year’s event, and we were genuinely impressed by the experience.

One of the many highlights of the evening was the series of videos and presentations that clearly demonstrated how the donations will directly support the hospital and our community. Being part of this event was a meaningful way to see the impact of the donations provided through Canada One Cares and the Priestner family. It was also inspiring to witness so many members of our community coming together to give back because they truly care about and believe in the important work the RIH Foundation does. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to be part of such a special evening.

Our partnership with the RIH Foundation over the past three years has been truly exceptional. They have consistently taken the time to understand what is most important and meaningful to us, while keeping us informed with regular updates on the impact and progress of the initiatives we support.

We are grateful for this partnership and look forward to continuing to work alongside the RIH Foundation. Together, we are excited to see the ongoing improvements to our hospital and the lasting positive impact they will have on our community.” – Jon Kaban, GM at Kamloops Honda
