Kamloops , BC: Media, staff, and loyal donors of the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, hailed local hero, Mark Recchi, at the Interior Savings Centre today as he announced the Kamloops Blazers support to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation.

Recchi, who has been the Ambassador to the RIH Foundation’s Campaign for a New ICU at Royal Inland Hospital since February of this year, was greeted by his friends and fans when he approached the podium in the Blazers Dressing Room.

“Thank you all for your support”, said the NHL’s three time Stanley Cup winner. “And thank you to the Kamloops Blazers for joining us in our quest for $3 million for a New ICU at our local hospital”, finished Recchi.

With the Blazer Club so closely tied to Mark Recchi, Guy Charron, Kamloops Blazers Head Coach was proud to stand by the Mark Recchi 365 Challenge to raise funds for the New Intensive Care Unit at Royal Inland Hospital.

“We are proud to be joining the ranks with the four other Team Recchi Members to show our community how important this cause really is”, said Charron.

With a new Team Recchi member added to the roster each month, the lineup is showcasing some exceptional community supporters. Telus, Zimmer Wheaton, Aberdeen Mall and the Iccha/Wish Fund have all hopped on board to spread the word.

During Recchi’s announcement today, he also revealed the latest total for the ICU Campaign.
With $916,993 left to fundraise to complete the $3 million request, it is eminent that with the support the Foundation has received to date, they are well on their way to achieving this goal.
For almost 30 years, critically ill and injured patients have received life-saving care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Royal Inland Hospital. The modern ICU will bring upgraded technology, improved privacy, greater efficiencies for hospital staff, and much-needed support and comfort to patients and their families and friends.
