Kamloops , BC: On Saturday, August 13th, the Royal Inland Hospital received a special visit from local hero and NHL Star, Mark Recchi, along with the Stanley Cup.

Recchi, who has been the Ambassador to the RIH Foundation’s Campaign for a New ICU at Royal Inland Hospital since February of this year, graciously offered to take the Cup to the Hospital to visit the patients.

Mark toured the hospital and made a special stop at the current Intensive Care Unit at RIH. This facility is close to completion in it;\’s new location on the third floor of the Hospital.

“I’m happy to brighten someone’s day by bringing the Cup around”, said the NHL’s three time Stanley Cup winner. “And to thank everyone for helping us raise $3 million for a New ICU at our local hospital”, finished Recchi.

With $916,993 needed to complete the $3 million fundraising challenge, it is eminent that with the support the Foundation has received to date, they are well on their way to achieving this goal.
For almost 30 years, critically ill and injured patients have received life-saving care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Royal Inland Hospital. The modern ICU will bring upgraded technology, improved privacy, greater efficiencies for hospital staff, and much-needed support and comfort to patients and their families and friends.
